How does Velvet determine your seasonal colour palette?
Velvet uses the front camera to analyse 3 skin tone dimensions: undertone (warm, cool, neutral), depth (light, medium, deep), and contrast between skin, eyes, and hair. An AI model trained on over 50,000 portraits labelled by 4 professional colour analysts then classifies the user into one of the 12 extended seasons — 4 main seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter) with 3 sub-types per season (light, warm/cool, deep). Analysis takes 4 to 8 seconds depending on lighting quality, and Velvet offers a built-in Lighting Studio with 4 presets — natural, fluorescent, warm, cool — to compare results under different conditions. The output includes a personal palette of 16 clothing colours and 8 makeup colours, fully exportable.
